Falcons fans melting down over more Tua Tagovailoa fumble issues

The Atlanta Falcons are currently taking part in training camp as they gear up for the upcoming 2026 NFL season. The Falcons started the preseason with a dud last week by getting blown out at home by the Denver Broncos, with newly signed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa fumbling the first snap of his Falcons tenure.

During Wednesday’s joint practice session with the Indianapolis Colts, those struggles to hold onto the ball unfortunately continued.

“Falcons first-team offense had a drive that went … Tua sack, Bijan (Robinson) carry for TFL, Tua fumbled snap,” reported Daniel Flick of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on X, formerly Twitter.

Fans in the comment section were not thrilled.

“I don’t know why Tua seems to have some butter hands right now I wonder if he’s had a history of muffin the snaps,” wrote one fan.

“This guy still fumbling,” added another.

However, things did get better for Tagovailoa and the offense.

“Next drive ended with Tua throwing a jump ball to Drake London, who went over the top of a Colts corner for an impressive grab,” reported Flick.

Tagovailoa was signed this offseason by the Falcons after parting ways with the Miami Dolphins, with the team still uncertain about quarterback Michael Penix Jr.’s injury status heading into the new season. The former Alabama standout had a national championship-winning throw in the Falcons’ home Mercedes-Benz Stadium eight years ago, but thus far, he hasn’t been able to rekindle that magic during his brief Atlanta tenure.

The Falcons will hope for positive injury news on the Penix front as training camp continues, but at this point, it looks like Tagovailoa is in line to be the team’s starting quarterback heading into next season.

The Falcons’ regular season is slated to get underway on September 13 on the road vs the Pittsburgh Steelers.
