Tua Tagovailoa-Kevin Stefanski relationship already blooming before QB1 decision
With the start of the NFL season weeks away, new Falcons quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Kevin Stefanski are already establishing a growing relationship. Tagovailoa joined the Falcons quarterback room following an ACL injury that Michael Penix Jr. suffered last November.
According to a report by Atlanta Falcons senior reporter Will McFadden on X, Tagovailoa spoke about their growing working relationship.
“Yeah, I think they’ve been very helpful. There’s no holding back. They’ll tell you what it is, and you move forward from that. I think as a professional football player, that’s all you can ask for, right? Constructive criticism and being able to take that and apply that moving forward. It’s what they want to see, and it’s what you kind of want to see in yourself. You take that coaching point, you learn from it, you move forward with that.”
Tagovailoa joins the Falcons after being cut by the Miami Dolphins this offseason. In an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, he spoke about how hard it was to deal with being cut.
“Well, I would say the real aspect of it is, one, it’s hard, you know. There’s no other way to work around that,” he said on SiriusXM NFL Radio on August 18. “You can try to trick yourself into thinking it’s not as hard as what you’re thinking. But it’s hard to go through something like that.”
He also spoke with his former head coach Nick Saban for counsel on how to properly move on in his career.
“One thing that I ended up taking from Coach Saban that stuck with me as I was going through that process, being benched last year, not being able to finish out the season with the guys, and then obviously being released by the Dolphins and then being a free agent was, ‘Things don’t happen to you. They happen for you.’ And that kind of stuck with me.”
