‘Don’t push me’ – Martin Brundle ignored by Kim Kardashian at Monaco Grand Prix

Martin Brundle is always in the thick of it on the Formula 1 grid and – as ever – he never disappoints in Monaco.

His latest walk saw him bump into showbiz and sports stars and warn off someone who got a little too close, even in the cramped conditions in the principality.

Two years ago, it was France and Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe making it tough exchange for the ex-driver.

A vow of silence preceded and awkward question and answer in Monaco, where Mbappe once played his football.

This time it was Kim Kardashian, widely reported as F1 icon Lewis Hamilton’s new beau, who made it difficult.

It’s an unwritten rule that those on the grid before a Grand Prix should at least offer a polite quick couple of words should Brundle arrive with his Sky Sports microphone in hand.

In Monaco he spied Kardashian, in town supporting Hamilton and Ferrari with some of her family, however she didn’t appear keen to talk.

“Kim, Martin Brundle from Sky F1,” he politely interjected. “How are you today?”

Kardashian, though, swiftly turned away to ignore Brundle before a member of her entourage whispered in her ear.

At that point, Brundle said to someone out of shot, “Uh, no, don’t. You don’t need to push me, mate. Yeah, normally people will have a quick chat with us.”

He then tried to politely interact with Kardashian again, adding: “Are you enjoying F1?”

It wasn’t to be, though, and Brundle found himself ignored.

He admitted defeat and said: “Kim and Khloe, so we’re not talking today. I was led to believe they might do.”

Silence on the grid walk is a move that often infuriates F1 fans.

They often feel that those celebrities, often invited by the teams or drivers, who don’t ordinarily follow the racing all year round should at least speak to Brundle as he entertains the watching millions before lights out.

Model and actress Cara Delevigne previously came under-fire for refusing to talk to Brundle on the grid.

She did so at the 2023 British Grand Prix and, despite Brundle grabbing time with Hollywood icon Brad Pitt and legendary football manager Pep Guardiola amongst others.

Delevigne insisted she had been told no to talk to him but former F1 driver and fellow Sky Sports pundit Karun Chandhok added those who don’t care should get their passes removed and handed to ‘deserving kids’.
