Cubs’ Pete Crow-Armstrong reveals what he learned from unfulfilled Dodgers trash talk

The Chicago Cubs got a huge performance from Pete Crow-Armstrong on Saturday. Crow-Armstrong finished the team’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals with a home run and four total hits. Chicago defeated the Redbirds, 6-1.

Crow-Armstrong spoke after the game about how he needs to keep it up, especially after he engages in trash talk. He had recently thrown out some trash talk about the Los Angeles Dodgers, that went unfulfilled.

“We’ve seen it in LA where I didn’t back up any talk that I may have said, so learning from stuff like that and always making sure I’m doing the right things on the field first,” Crow-Armstrong said, per FOX Sports.

Crow-Armstrong nearly hit for the cycle on Saturday night, just needing a triple to accomplish that feat. He was really pleased with being able to help out his club.

“Really making a point and emphasizing getting one pitch to drive and driving it,” Crow-Armstrong said, per MLB.com. “It’s helped me find more barrels recently, for sure.”

Chicago was so happy to see Crow-Armstrong hit well. In recent weeks, the team has been struggling. The Cubs had undergone a 10-game losing streak, before taking two games in a recent series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Crow-Armstrong also made a huge catch Saturday to help out the defense.

“That ball goes up and you’re like no, and then you’re like, yeah, maybe, and then he makes the catch, and it’s pretty awesome,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said. “I mean, he’s in a place where you just, you know, nobody’s getting to that stuff.”

The Cubs play the Cardinals again on Sunday. Chicago is now 32-27 on the campaign.
