Three Tottenham players ask to leave as Roberto De Zerbi makes bombshell announcement

Richarlison, Kevin Danso and Pape Matar Sarr have all asked to leave Tottenham Hotspur, Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed.

The trio were not part of the squad that lost 2-0 to Newcastle United on Saturday evening.

Richarlison and Danso have each played one match out of a possible three this season, while Sarr has not featured at all.

De Zerbi was asked about his squad during his post-Newcastle press conference and revealed their wishes to leave the club.

“Richarlison, he’s said too many times he wants to leave,” the Spurs head coach said.

“Danso came to me two days ago, and he said he wants to leave.

“The other player, Sarr, is the same but he’s suffered a small injury. But, he’s almost ready to train.”

De Zerbi then responded to a question about whether or not he had a message for the players, and if they had a way back into the team.

“I love these players, and they are great guys,” the Italian explained. “I have very good relationships.

“But, if they want to leave, they have to bring the economic solution to the club and they can go, and we’ll find other players.”

With the transfer window closing on Tuesday, the wantaway trio still have time to find new clubs.

Spurs have signed Omar Marmoush from Manchester City, with the deal including an initial season-long loan and £60million obligation.

His arrival may well have increased Richarlison’s chances of leaving as he is in the final months of his contract.

Richarlison has been underwhelming for Spurs since his £60m move from Everton in 2022, having scored 32 goals in 134 appearances.

The forward started in the defeat at Brentford, but did not have a single shot on target across 68 minutes.

Danso is reportedly of interest to Premier League rivals Sunderland, who have had a loan bid rejected.

Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi are two players to have joined Spurs this summer as new centre-back options.

Micky van de Ven, who was captain against Newcastle, is seemingly top of the pecking order, while Danso has dropped down.

Galatasaray, Aston Villa and Juventus have all been linked with Sarr.

However, AS Monaco are said to be leading the race for the midfielder ahead of the transfer deadline.
