Cotie McMahon calls out Wings for hilarious scouting error
The Washington Mystics pulled off a big win against the Dallas Wings on Wednesday, 96-92, as they continue to keep pace in a tight race for playoff positioning down the stretch. In the win, the Mystics got a strong game from rookie forward Cotie McMahon who apparently the Wings forgot to include on the scouting report.
Following the Mystics’ win, a copy of the Wings’ scouting report was found in the locker room with Cotie McMahon’s name omitted, and made its way to her. The rookie forward shared it on social media, proclaiming that the Wings should have included her on the report.
McMahon finished with a career-high 18 points to go along with three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one blocked shot in 27 minutes off the bench. She shot 6-of-10 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. She was the Mystics’ second-leading scorer behind Shakira Austin’s 27 points. Austin was indeed included on the scouting report.
The No. 11 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, McMahon has provided a solid spark for the young Mystics. She’s appeared in 27 of the team’s 29 games, including five starts, at a little over 20 minutes per game. The former Ole Miss standout is averaging 6.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists with splits of 39.6 percent shooting from the field, 29.6 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 62.1 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
The Mystics are currently 17-12 and in eighth place in the league standings. They are only a game and a half back of the No. 4 seed Atlanta Dream and potentially hosting an opening round playoff series.
