Cole Palmer has been warned he would not just walk into Manchester United’s starting XI.

That is the view of talkSPORT’s Inside Devils YouTube show amid links back to his hometown club.

Man United recently beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge for only the third time in the Premier League since 2002, putting them ten points clear of their rivals with just five games to go.

It was one of the final nails in the coffin for sacked Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior, who never saw Palmer at his best.

Under Enzo Maresca, the former Manchester City player was ranked among the Premier League’s best players, contributing 37 goals across his first two seasons in London.

However, his form has dipped significantly this season, with the 23-year-old providing only nine goals and one assist in the top-flight.

In recent weeks, rumours have intensified that Palmer is unsettled in London and could be on the move to Old Trafford, despite being contracted at Chelsea until 2033.

The player insisted he had ‘no plans to move’ even though Chelsea’s current league position leaves them fighting for a Europa League spot.

Speaking on the latest episode of Inside Devils, United fan Angelina Kelly argued that the Manchester-born midfielder would not even start for the Red Devils at the moment.

She said: “You could argue this is a basic Chelsea team that we should be beating, but they are still in competition for those European places.

“You look at Chelsea’s team, Man United were interested in signing Liam Delap last summer, and he has not been great. Alejandro Garnacho used to be at Man United and he had an awful performance [on Sunday].

Cole Palmer keeps getting linked with Manchester United, but no one knows what is happening there. Is the grass always greener at Chelsea? I think none of them would get into Man United’s starting XI at the moment.

“There’s maybe a case for Palmer, but not in my opinion. “

Reports suggest that Palmer has become homesick after relocating to the capital and if Chelsea miss out on Champions League qualification, it could be more of an incentive to move back to the north west.

Meanwhile, Man United are linked with multiple midfielders this summer, prioritising a rebuild in the middle of the park to replace Casemiro and potentially Bruno Fernandes.

Kelly also felt the Red Devils also ‘dodged a bullet’ with Delap opting for the Blues last summer – the striker has only scored three times in 42 appearances.

After only one season, talkSPORT understands Chelsea would be open to offers for the former Ipswich striker this year.

Another player Chelsea are looking to sell is former Man United player Alejandro Garnacho, who has only five goal contributions in the Premier League this season.

In the recent fixture against his old club, the Argentine struggled after replacing the injured Estevao in the 16th minute.

Kelly added: “We were happy to get rid of Garnacho, and what a great bit of business that has been.

“I feel a little sorry for him because he has talent, and it must be his attitude or things going on behind the scenes, but watching the game, I thought what a great move it was to get rid of him.”

Afterwards, various United stars mocked the winger on social media, suggesting he didn’t leave the club in a positive way.

Ex-teammate Luke Shaw shared an Instagram post showing Garnacho being pushed to the ground, with other players taking swipes at the Argentine in the comments.

Additionally, the 21-year-old also aggravated his current club’s fans by wiping his TikTok account clean of any content of him in Chelsea blue and reposting two clips of his time at United.
