Chris Bosh’s advice for Giannis Antetokounmpo comes with ‘classic Heat basketball’ truth bomb

Before Giannis Antetokounmpo, there was Chris Bosh for the Miami Heat. Bosh helped the Heat win back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013, cementing his status as one of the all-time greats in team history.

He was still at his prime when he unfortunately had to cut his career short due to a life-threatening blood condition. The Heat retired his jersey in 2019.

He remains supportive of Miami, expressing his excitement for the team after adding Antetokounmpo. There have been questions about the two-time MVP’s fit with the Heat. Bosh, however, is not too worried about it, especially if Antetokounmpo buys into the team’s culture.

“It’s classic Heat basketball. They have a person that they believe they can build around, him and Bam (Adebayo), a great nucleus to hopefully get them to the next level,” said Bosh in an interview with HoopsHype’s Sam Yip.

“They’re right in their wheelhouse. I always truly believe that they (Heat) want to leverage their future for a guy that can do it right now. They have that guy.”

Miami gave up Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, and draft capital to get Antetokounmpo. It was a calculated risk, and there will be growing pains with the 31-year-old forward. If there is someone who understands the value of adjustment, it is Bosh, who willingly took a back seat to LeBron James and Dwyane Wade during their team-up in South Beach.

Bosh, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021, is bullish on the Heat’s campaign.

“I’m sure they’ve got a couple more tricks up their sleeve because they need to build the team a little bit still. But if they get some outside shooting, get another playmaker or two, I think they could be a really strong team,” added Bosh.

Aside from Antetokounmpo, Miami also added Bobby Portis Jr. and Tim Hardaway Jr. in the offseason.
