Chiefs rumors: Insider loves idea of Stefon Diggs teaming up with Patrick Mahomes

NFL free agency is mostly over, but there are still a few big veteran names left on the market. One of those names is wide receiver Stefon Diggs, and NFL insider James Palmer says he could see the pass-catcher heading to play with Patrick Mahomes (when he returns from his knee injury) and the Kansas City Chiefs.

“This has happened in Kansas City. They have followed the New England model, in a sense, of bringing older players in to play with Patrick,” Palmer said on Up & Adams

“Chiefs! Go to the Chiefs!” host Kay Adams squealed at the thought.

“Diggs to KC because, I just think there’s some question marks in that wide receiver room. I don’t know if they all entirely fit how Patrick plays,” Palmer continued.

Palmer and Adams also discussed the possibility of former Chiefs star Tyreek Hill returning to KC this offseason after being released by the Dolphins. Having those two veteran receivers to go along with Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice (when he gets out of jail) would be a bold and intriguing experiment.

It would be incredible to see if a 31-year-old Mahomes, coming off of major knee surgery, could find the Chiefs’ former glory alongside a 37-year-old Kelce, 33-year-old Diggs, and 32-year-old Hill during the season.

Also, could a team survive the PR and locker room chemistry issues that come from putting Rice—who is serving a jail term for violating his probation by smoking marijuana after being found guilty of third-degree felony of racing and causing bodily injury—with Hill—who just settled a lawsuit with an Onlyfans model who accused him of breaking her leag, and has a long wrap sheet in his past—and Diggs, who was just found not guilty in a trial of his own?

Putting that much bad juju in one NFL locker room seems like a bad idea, but you will find it fascinating to watch.
