Charles Barkley drops Dan Hurley Mount Rushmore declaration before UConn-Michigan

With Dan Hurley and UConn basketball taking on Michigan in the national championship game of the March Madness tournament, a win for the program could take the coach to new heights in all-time conversations. While the future of Hurley has been talked about a lot, Charles Barkley would claim a win over the Wolverines would cement the Huskies coach in history.

Hurley is looking to capture a third championship with the UConn basketball team, which, if done, would be the third in the last four seasons. Barkley would say if Hurley and the Huskies pull through, he would “be on the Mount Rushmore,” especially as he argued how impeccable Michigan has been dominating opponents in the tournament.

“Well, I think tonight is really, really significant also, for two reasons. Number one, if UConn wins, Danny Hurley is going to be on the Mount Rushmore,” Barkley said, via TNT Sports. “But if Michigan wins, we will have seen one of the greatest runs in NCAA history. They have been beating the brakes off people for three weeks.”

“I mean, like, if they come out here,” Barkley continued. “I mean, the games have not even been close. And like I say, if Danny Hurley wins the third, he’s on the list. He’s already been a great coach; he’s already won two, but if you get to three, that takes you to a whole other level. But if Michigan wins…we’re gonna be saying…because we haven’t even been talking about that, they just been killing people.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen if Hurley will once again hoist a trophy with the Huskies as they take on the formidable Wolverines on Monday night for the national title.
