Cavs weather Raptors in Game 2 for commanding 2-0 playoff series lead

The Cleveland Cavaliers are two wins away from advancing to the second round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs.

On Monday, Donovan Mitchell and the Cavs took care of business anew in their first-round series against the Toronto Raptors, coming away with a 115-105 victory for a commanding 2-0 lead in the matchup.

So dominant the Cavs were in the contest that they never trailed from beginning to end of Game 2.

Donovan Mitchell led the way for Cleveland, dropping 30 points on 13-for-23 shooting from the field to go along with seven rebounds, five assists, and a steal, while hitting four 3-pointers in 37 minutes of action.

Mitchell was hardly the only thorn in the side of Toronto, with James Harden and Evan Mobley adding 28 and 25 points, respectively. The former NBA Most Valuable Player Harden also had four assists and five steals. Along the way, Harden climbed up to the No. 7 spot of the all-time list for playoff assists, with 1,139 postseason dimes to his name.

Cleveland built a 16-point lead in the third quarter before the Raptors showed some life and responded with a 16-6 run, but the Cavaliers held it together the rest of the way, making timely buckets and stifling Toronto’s attacks.

Although Toronto shot 51 percent from the field, the Cavs forced 22 Raptors turnovers and limited Brandon Ingram to just seven points on a brutal 3-for-15 shooting from the floor.

Cleveland now takes aim at going up 3-0 in the series, which the Cavs will attempt to do on Thursday, when the action shifts to Toronto for Games 3 and 4.
