The Chicago Bulls picked Caleb Wilson fourth overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, but the power forward from UNC made it known that he felt like he was not just the best player in a loaded draft class, but that he could become one of the best players ever. In a different year, Wilson certainly could have gone number one overall, and he is showcasing his potential early in Summer League.

In fact, Wilson has been arguably the best player in Las Vegas. His 27 points per game are the second most in the Summer League, and he just slammed home the highlight dunk of the tournament. After taking off from nearly outside of the painted area, Wilson threw in a posterizer that was reminiscent of Dwight Howard’s Superman slams of old.

The rookie is quickly making a name for himself and already looks like the face of the Bulls franchise. Chicago fans can breathe a sigh of relief in that regard because their last first-round pick, Noa Essengue, hasn’t left the team with as much optimism. The French big played just six minutes during the entirety of his rookie season before he was shut down with a shoulder injury.

Even before then, he underwhelmed in the G-League, and in the Summer League last year, Essengue went viral for one of the most iconic lowlights in recent memory. Just one day shy of a year before Wilson’s dunk, Essengue was on the wrong side of a poster, in which he famously was left with a dumbfounded and embarrassing look on his face while Johnny Furphy climbed the stairs above him.

Wilson still has a lot to prove, and Essengue is far from a youngster that should be written off, but the two recent draftees have given fans very different levels of optimism so far.
