Why analyst just called Cowboys’ Jerry Jones out as season draws near

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to have a bounce-back season after a year when they were one of the best offenses in the league, but also one of the worst on defense.  With the changes they’ve made during the offseason, there is optimism that things will change, and they’re hoping not to have a third straight losing season.

The Athletic recently published a story that centered around Jerry and Stephen Jones, and how there could be a change of power soon. Some people are blaming Jerry for the mess the Cowboys have been in over the past seasons, and analyst Jason McIntyre is one of them.

“He keeps botching these big contracts. He could have paid Dak Prescott early,” McIntyre said on The Herd. “Wait until the last minute. Ends up making Dak the highest-paid quarterback in the league, and as good as Dak has been, he was a runner-up for MVP a few years ago. Dak Prescott is not worthy of being the highest-paid quarterback.

“Jerry did this with CeeDee Lamb. Made him the highest-paid receiver, waited too long. He did it with Micah Parsons, but he botched that one so badly that they had to end up trading Micah Parsons on the eve of last season. And they ended up having the worst defense in the league by a mile.”

McIntyre thinks that Jerry could’ve had some of these things easily fixed, even finding a better coaching staff.

“Jerry could easily hire a good coach and a good GM and get Dallas back on the path to a Super Bowl. But he wants to do it his way… None of it is working,” McIntyre said.

The thing is that Jerry believes the moves that he’s making will lead them to a Super Bowl, which is why he’s making them. Unfortunately, it looks like he’s been more wrong than right in his decisions as of late.
