Bills’ CJ Gardner-Johnson can’t believe Josh Allen’s trash-talking legacy

The Buffalo Bills are headed into a must-win season with a new head coach. As Joe Brady starts his first minicamp as the head coach, one of the new additions is talking to the media. Bills DB CJ Gardner-Johnson was told that Josh Allen was once voted the best trash talker in the league. Safe to say, he was surprised.

“CJ, did you know prior to coming here that Josh was voted the number one trash talker in the league?” Gardner-Johnson was asked. “In front of me? Huh? Man, I gotta do better.” When asked if he noticed Allen’s trash talking, “Nah, I gotta do better, forget that. I gotta do better, hell naw.”

Gardner-Johnson was drafted by the New Orleans Saints and has since spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and Chicago Bears. He was part of the 2024 Eagles Super Bowl championship squad and started a playoff game for the Bears last year.

Gardner-Johnson has not learned about Allen’s trash-talking ability yet. Great players make other players better, and maybe that’s true about trash-talking too. As the practices between the offense and defense ramp up, the trash talk between these two will start to ramp up. Maybe during training camp, Gardner-Johnson will hand the crown over to Allen.

The Bills are among the Super Bowl favorites once again thanks to their quarterback. Allen finished third in MVP voting last year on the back of 39 total touchdowns and a 12-5 record. While he is putting up an elite personal career, Buffalo has not made the Super Bowl in his tenure.

The Bills have a tough start to the season, with the Texans and the Lions right off the bat. Maybe Gardner-Johnson’s history will help them prepare for those first two games.
