Dianna Russini’s NFL media return may come with full Mike Vrabel scandal confession
All signs point to Dianna Russini returning to sports media, but it may also come with a full confession of her side of the Mike Vrabel scandal.
Page Six reports that Russini will return to work during the 2026 NFL season, but it’s expected that she “will share her side of the scandal upon taking her next job.”
According to a source, she is hoping that she can speak on the matter and permanently “move past it” after doing so. It’s noted that while she will likely land her next job soon, it’s “unlikely” to be before the opening game of the year between Vrabel’s New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, which kicks off on Wednesday, Sep. 9.
Amid her long hiatus after her resignation from The Athletic, Russini has reportedly turned down several interview requests from “major networks, podcasts, and even reality television shows.” Now, she appears ready to fully break her silence on the scandal.
Where will former NFL insider Dianna Russini land after the Mike Vrabel scandal?

Russini’s next home is unknown, though it sounds like she has options. Page Six’s report notes that she is still considering offers “from several outlets.” It’s also possible that she “accepts more than one gig.” So, expect to see a lot of her during the season.
Her involvement with Vrabel might rub some the wrong way. However, according to Page Six, she is still well-received among those in the NFL. Some are even “pulling for her return.”
Russini and Vrabel’s scandal was exposed in April 2026. Page Six published pictures of her and the Patriots head coach at a resort in Sedona, Arizona, from March 2026. This set into motion an avalanche of pictures and videos of them throughout the years, dating back to 2020. They are both married to other people, and the potential conflict of interest caused a stir when the scandal broke.
The Athletic investigated her reporting for several months after the scandal was initially reported. She was found “noncompliant” with the outlet’s standards. However, the investigation didn’t find the “full extent” of her relationship with Vrabel. Russini issued the brief statement, “I stand by any and all reporting I’ve ever done in my career,” in response to The Athletic’s report.
