Bournemouth vs Brentford prediction
Bournemouth head into this weekend’s intriguing clash with Brentford as very slight favourites for victory, heading into the match in confident mood after securing their first win of the campaign on Tuesday night with a 4-0 win over Championship side Lincoln in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
The victory, Marco Rose’s first for the club since taking over as manager in the summer, felt a long time coming after having been in front in the latter stages of all three of their previous matches this season in the Premier League.
The German began his tenancy with Bournemouth in a 2-1 defeat at Manchester City despite heading into the 84th minute with a 1-0 lead, then conceding 91st and 88th minute equalisers in matches against Everton and Newcastle respectively.
The late concession of goals leaves the Cherries with only two points from their three matches, positioning them in 15th place in the Premier League table, but will be looking forward to returning to their home patch on Saturday where they currently hold an 11 match unbeaten run in all competitions.
Interestingly though, seven of their last eight Premier League matches at the Vitality Stadium have ended in a draw.
Brentford make the trip to the Dorset coast on Saturday without a defeat to their name so far, picking up five points from their opening three Premier League matches as well has having progressed to the third round of the Carabao Cup with an emphatic 6-1 win at Championship side Birmingham.
After a thrilling start to their campaign with that win in the cup following a 3-0 win over Tottenham on the opening day of the Premier League, Keith Andrews’ side have since only managed to record back to back 1-1 draws, against Leeds away and Sunderland at home.
The Bees head into the weekend in fifth place in the Premier League table ahead of a tough trip to the south coast.
With Bournemouth having drawn seven of their last eight home league games, including their most recent clash with Brentford, who themselves have drawn their last two games, surely the stars are aligning once again for another score draw this weekend.
Bournemouth vs Brentford tips
Bournemouth and Bees battle for share of spoils
Astonishingly, Bournemouth have drawn seven of their last eight Premier League matches at the Vitality Stadium, including a stalemate against Brentford the last time the two sides met back in March.
Both teams have drawn two of their opening three league games of the new season, making it look increasingly likely that the streak of stalemates will continue.
- Draw and both teams to score at 7/2 with Midnite
Tavernier on target
No player expected to start Saturday’s match at the Vitality Stadium has scored more goals this season than Bournemouth’s Marcus Tavernier.
The 27-year-old has scored in the Cherries’ matches against Manchester City on the opening day of the season, as well as their draw at Newcastle last weekend, standing him in good stead to add to his tally on Saturday.
- Marcus Tavernier to score at 16/5 with SBK
Another Janelt yellow
Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt has received more yellow cards than any other player in the Premier League this season.
The former Germany U21 international is the only player in the top flight to have been booked in every single league game so far and could be set to extend that run this weekend with a tough trip to the Dorset coast.
- Vitaly Janelt to be carded at 11/4 with SBK
