Axel Disasi offered Chelsea escape route as two European clubs express interest

Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi is attracting interest from AC Milan and Roma, talkSPORT understands.

The 28-year-old is not in the Blues’ plans going forward following the arrival of new boss Xabi Alonso.

Disasi has not reported back for Chelsea pre-season training as both he and the club look for him to find a new team.

Valued at around £25million by the west London outfit, Chelsea stand to make a loss on him.

Signed from Monaco in 2023 for £38m, the defender has failed to hold down a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge.

Having featured in 44 games in his opening season – scoring on his debut in a 1-1 draw with Liverpool – he quickly soon fell out of favour.

The five-cap France international was shipped off on loan to Aston Villa for the second half of the 2024/25 term – appearing in seven Premier League games.

And having failed to feature for Chelsea in the first half of last season, he then joined West Ham on loan.

Disasi quickly endeared himself to the Hammers faithful as he slotted in alongside Konstantinos Mavropanos in the heart of the back four.

While he scored once from 17 games across all competitions, he ultimately failed to help West Ham remain in the top-flight.

Axel to grind

talkSPORT understands that the east London side had wanted to bring Disasi back to the London Stadium.

However, the player has no desire in competing in the Championship – opening the door to a potential move to Italy.

Both Roma and Milan are willing to offer Disasi an escape route from his Chelsea nightmare.

Roma can offer the ex-Reims star Champions League football, where he would reunite with former Villa teammate Donyell Malen.

Meanwhile, Milan will be plying their trade in the Europa League.

The Rossoneri have made it a habit in recent years to raid Chelsea for players in either permanent transfers or loan deals.

Christian Pulisic, Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Olivier Giroud, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku have all made the direct switch since 2021.

Should Disasi be sold, Chelsea could look to replace him with another French centre-back in Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix.
