Aaron Boone gives ‘hopeful’ outlook for Max Fried’s concerning elbow injury

The New York Yankees hope to have Max Fried back in the rotation soon. That looks like it won’t happen, though, as Fried is out again with an elbow problem. He could be out for at least two weeks, The Athletic reported Tuesday.

“The Yankees are hopeful that the inflammation will subside over the next few weeks. It’s possible he can return at the end of his IL stint. But that is solely based on the inflammation going away,” The Athletic reporter Chris Kirschner posted to X, formerly Twitter.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone is trying to stay positive.

“We just kind of collectively decided it’s probably best to make sure we get this calmed down. Hopefully, keep it a smaller issue, which is the hope,” Boone said, per MLB.com.

The Yankees have been hampered with injuries to key players for most of the season. Aaron Judge has been out for months due to a rib problem. In his absence, the Yankees have struggled to score and win games.

The rotation has also missed having Fried. Fried has struggled to stay healthy, with this elbow issue the latest problem.
