4-star edge picks Clemson Tigers over Notre Dame, Colorado

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers made a great addition in the pass rushing department, earning the commitment of defender Santana Harvey.

Harvey announced his commitment to the Tigers on Friday, per On3 insider Hayes Fawcett. Hailing from Lakeland, Florida, he chose the Tigers over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Colorado Buffaloes, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Harvey stands out as a four-star defender with a 90 score on 247Sports. He ranks 15th among players at his position, 16th in the state of Florida and 134th in the entire Class of 2027. His composite score of 0.9100 puts him at 35th, 25th and 284th in those respective categories.

“Wiry defensive end with plenty of growth potential that could fit into an odd or even front. Lacks polish at this stage, but showcases good power and the juice to close. Spent much of junior season attacking from the corner, but got occasional looks on the interior. Fires out of his stance and tends to initiate contact. Inconsistent at times with his pad level, but finds ways to fight through blocks,” 247Sports’ Scouting Director Andrew Ivins wrote.

“Understands when to get his hands up and affect passing lanes. Gives effort in backside pursuit as he builds momentum, but improved flexibility would yield more range. Put very encouraging stretches of play on tape as both a sophomore and a junior, but must continue to soak up coaching in the coming years to reach his full potential. Projects as a potential impact 5-technique or 4i at the Power Four level.”

In 2025, Harvey finished his junior season with 20 TFL, 12 sacks, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery. This was coming off a breakout sophomore season that saw him register 16.5 TFL, 8.5 sacks, two pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

In the meantime, Clemson looks forward to Year 19 of Dabo Swinney in charge. They look to improve from their 7-6 overall record they had last year, falling to Penn State in the Pinstripe Bowl.
