Yankees’ Aaron Boone shares important Aaron Judge injury update

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone shared an injury update on Aaron Judge on Friday. Judge is recovering from a rib injury. The outfielder is trending in the right direction and he may not even need a rehab assignment.

“Aaron Judge is continuing baseball activities and may take on-field BP with the Yankees in San Diego, Aaron Boone said. No decision yet on if he will go on a Minor League rehab assignment,” Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Barring any setbacks, Judge will likely return soon. Many reports have suggested that he is indeed expected to return before the regular season comes to an end. The Yankees are understandably going to proceed with caution, but the fact that a rehab assignment may not be necessary proves he is trending in a promising direction.

Judge has been working hard to recover and the Yankees are hoping he can return before the postseason. He was hitting .248/.375/.533 across 59 games played to go along with 17 home runs before suffering the injury.

The Yankees are currently 80-60 overall. The ball club is trailing the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East by three games at the moment. Tampa Bay holds an 83-57 record overall right now.
