World Cup 2026 Bet Builder Tips — Sunday 21 June | Best Picks & Predictions

Two European giants are in back in World Cup action in Sunday evening’s early games, with both Spain and Belgium in action for their second matches of the 2026 tournament, surprisingly both still looking for their first win.

Spain were on the wrong end on perhaps the shock of the opening round of group stage matches as they were held to a goalless draw by World Cup debutants Cape Verde, and will be looking to recover by getting the better of Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Belgium follow that match as they take on Iran, looking to get back to winning ways following their stalemate with Egypt earlier in the week.

Spain to win to nil, Mikel Oyarzabal to score and Mohamed Kanno to be carded

Cape Verde produced the first major shock of the 2026 World Cup when they managed to hold reigning European champions and pre-tournament favourites Spain to a goalless draw in their first ever match in the history of the tournament.

Luis de la Fuente’s side will be licking their wounds from the desperately disappointing display from his side who were fancied to scored five or six before the match had kicked off, but will be looking to turn that pain into a dominant performance this weekend to get their tournament back on track.

Sunday evening sees them come up against a Saudi Arabian side who impressed, particularly in the first half, against a Uruguay side managed by former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, taking the lead in the first half before ultimately drawing the match 1-1.

The Middle Eastern side will take confidence from that point but Spain are different beast altogether, and a wounded one at that, who are likely to take no prisoners from their second match if they’re given the chance.

Mikel Oyarzabal has settled in seamlessly as Spain’s first choice striker since Alvaro Morata dropped out of the squad, scoring 12 goals in his last 12 matches for Spain, including eight in his last seven and will be eager to get back on the scoreshet after missing out against Cape Verde, ending his six match scoring streak for his national team.

Saudi Arabian midfielder Mohamed Kanno has been on the receiving end of more yellow cards than any other international teammates, having been cautioned on three occasions since the start of the year, in which he’s started five of the Green Falcons’ six games.

Belgium to win, Kevin de Bruyne to score, Shoja Khalilzadeh to be carded

Belgium head into their second match at the 2026 World Cup desperate to get their first win on the board following their 1-1 draw with Egypt last time out in Seattle.

Rudi Garcia’s side come up against Iran on Sunday night with the Red Devils currently on a 14 match unbeaten run on all competitions, without having tasted defeat in any match since March last year.

The 2018 World Cup semi finalists travelled to North America for the World Cup having won four of their last five matches, so confidence should still be high in camp despite their less than ideal start, and a win on Sunday would go a long way to helping the top Group G.

Iran were also held to a draw in their opening match, having to come from behind twice against an unfancied New Zealand side to record a point on the board in their bid to qualify for the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time in their history.

Manchester City legend and current Napoli playmaker Kevin de Bruyne has been Belgium’s star in front of goal over the last 12 months, having scored seven goals for his country since September.

The attacking midfielder scored in the Red Devils’ final warm up friendly against Tunisia and came within the width of the post of achieving the same feat against Egypt earlier in the week, and can be expected have a busy game on Sunday with the Belgians in need of a win.

Iranian centre back Shoja Khalilzadeh has received more yellow cards than any other teammate since the start of his country’s qualifying campaign for the World Cup.

The 37-year-old has been a near ever-present for his country over the last nine months, with the veteran having been cautioned on three occasions in his last five starts.
