Vikings’ J.J. McCarthy won’t play vs. Broncos but not because of a trade
It remains unclear when or if J.J. McCarthy will play quarterback again for the Minnesota Vikings, but fans know it will not be on Friday night. The No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft suffered a “minor ankle injury” in last Saturday’s game versus the Baltimore Ravens and is unavailable for the team’s preseason meeting with the Denver Broncos, per ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.
McCarthy logged light practice sessions to begin the week but sat out on Wednesday. Regardless of the 23-year-old’s status with the Vikings, both in the short and long term, it would have been nice to have one last opportunity to showcase his skills before the regular season begins. Alas, the injury bug bites McCarthy yet again.
