Titans’ Cam Ward reveals harsh truth behind ‘we a**’ mic drop
The 2025-26 campaign was a rough one for the Tennessee Titans, as the team finished with a 3-14 record. At one point, things were going so poorly that during a postgame press conference, Cam Ward described himself and his teammates playing like “a**.” Now, with training camp right around the corner, Ward goes more in depth about those comments at that time.
Ward, who is 24 years old, said the infamous line “If we keep it a buck right now, we a**,” almost immediately after the Titans’ 26-0 Week 4 loss to the Houston Texans. When asked about those past comments this summer, the former No. 1 overall pick claimed that he was raised to be blunt, and when he said it, he truly meant it, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
“That’s how I’ve been my whole life,” Ward said. “That’s how I was raised, to be honest. That’s how I was brought up. For myself, I’m not playing my best ball that game, and when I said that, I meant it.”
Ideally for the Titans, the organization doesn’t have to hear its star quarterback make those claims any longer. The front office used a plethora of cap space to sign a multitude of new players to the offense and defense under new head coach Robert Saleh. Tennessee then used the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to select Carnell Tate to step in as Cam Ward’s new go-to wide receiver.
While it was a frustrating campaign for the Titans as a whole, Ward did manage to break some rookie records last season. He broke the record for most passing yards by a rookie in the Titans’ franchise history with 3,169 and became the first rookie QB in Tennessee to surpass the 3,000-yard mark. He also managed to throw 15 touchdowns while completing 59.8% of his pass attempts.
Titans fans will have a chance to get to know Cam Ward a little better this offseason, as he will be one of four NFL QBs featured on Netflix’s “Quarterback.” The show will go over Ward’s rookie season in Tennessee.
