Thunder fans will love Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s humble reaction to Game 5 effort

Although Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been uncharacteristically inefficient during the Western Conference Finals, the two-time reigning MVP has done his part to help the Oklahoma City Thunder come within one win of their second straight NBA Finals appearance. Even when his shot is not falling and his ball security is lacking, Gilgeous-Alexander makes a valuable impact on the floor.

The superstar guard posted 32 points on 7-of-19 shooting with nine assists, two steals, one block and six turnovers. He kept OKC in control by staying aggressive and frequently visiting the free-throw line. Gilgeous-Alexander made all but one of his 17 attempts from the charity stripe. That statistic will surely be a topic of conversation on Wednesday morning.

Despite the overall productivity, No. 2 is not willing to give himself too much credit following a vitally important 127-114 Game 5 win versus the San Antonio Spurs. “When are you gonna think you had a good game?” NBC Sports reporter Zora Stephenson asked in the postgame interview. A smiling Gilgeous-Alexander displayed the humility and hunger that his fan base absolutely cherishes.

“When I have a good game,” he responded before making his way to the locker room.
