Trey Benson lets frustration out with powerful post after getting cut by Cardinals

Trey Benson is going through a rough period after getting cut by the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, just a few days before the announcement of the 53-man roster.

He has not seen action since Week 4 of last season due to a knee injury. While Benson participated in training camp, the lingering issue has continued to bother him.

The 24-year-old running back could be an interesting piece for some teams because of his youth and potential. In four games last year, he rushed for 160 yards and tallied 13 receptions for 64 yards.

In the meantime, Benson will have to lick his wounds and pick himself up. He shared on his Instagram Story a powerful message, as captured by Sports Illustrated’s Donnie Druin.

“Remember, you can’t control storms, but you can control how you respond to them. It doesn’t matter what adversity comes your way. It doesn’t matter who said you can’t do it, who said no, or who hopes that you fail,” read the post.

“What you experience in the present is only a partial portrait of what God is painting for your future. So, what are you missing? NOTHING! What you need, you already have. Remember, faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.”

The Cardinals drafted Benson with the No. 66 pick in 2024 after a standout career at Florida State. He, however, did not get a lot of opportunities in his rookie year. He was having a more productive stint in his second year when his knee injury derailed him.

Now, he is looking for a second chance to prove himself.

While it might not be an easy stretch, Benson can always lean on his self-belief. As they say, faith comes when reason ends.
