Dream’s Angel Reese sets new single-game WNBA record with insane effort vs. Sparks

Angel Reese made history for the ages as she crashed the glass in the Atlanta Dream’s 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday night.

Reese is going through the third season of her WNBA career, her first with the Dream. She is enjoying her best campaign to date, finally getting to experience the first playoff berth after Atlanta recently punched its ticket.

Reese stands out as one of the best rebounders in the entire league, often boxing out opponents to gain possession of the ball and create second chances. The spotlight shined on her once again, seeing her make history in 38 minutes of action.

Reese finished with a stat line of 11 points, 26 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. She shot 4-of-14 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. Her efforts ended up setting a new WNBA record, per reporter David Mendez-Yapkowitz.

How Angel Reese, Dream played against Sparks

Angel Reese dominated the glass as the Sparks couldn’t match her inside the paint. This resulted in the Dream securing a quality win on the road.

Four players scored in double-digits for Atlanta in the win, including Reese. Allisha Gray led the team with 20 points, six assists and three rebounds. She shot 7-of-11 overall including 2-of-6 from beyond the arc, and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. Rhyne Howard came next with 18 points and six rebounds, Naz Hillmon had 12 points and seven rebounds, while Jordin Canada provided nine points and four assists.

Atlanta improved to a 25-13 record on the season, sitting at first place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are above the Indiana Fever and the New York Liberty at the moment.

Rolling with four consecutive wins, the Dream will look forward to their next matchup. They are at home when they host the Portland Fire as tip-off commences on Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
