Spurs’ De’Aaron Fox drops ‘inconvenient’ truth on Donald Trump’s NBA Finals appearance

Game 3 of the NBA Finals will tip off at 8:30 p.m. EST on Monday. It’s a monumental matchup, as the San Antonio Spurs must earn a win to avoid falling 0-3 to the New York Knicks. This game brings so much magnitude that U.S. President Donald Trump will be attending the game in New York. However, De’Aaron Fox appears to be a bit annoyed with Trump’s appearance.

Hours before the start of Game 3, Fox claimed that everything is becoming “inconvenient” for him and everybody else involved with the NBA Finals due to Trump attending the contest, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News. The added security has the 28-year-old guard comparing arriving at the arena to going through TSA at the airport.

“I think the president being here just makes it inconvenient for everybody else,” said Fox… “We’re getting screened like it’s TSA. It’s a little inconvenient for the people that’s got to play, but it is what it is.”

Players aren’t the only ones experiencing more security measures for Game 3 of the NBA Finals due to Donald Trump’s presence. The Knicks announced that all fans attending the contest must go through a security line, similar to TSA, before entering the arena. Fans were advised to arrive at the stadium about two hours before tip-off to ensure everybody makes it through the line in time for the start of the game.

Game 3 of the NBA Finals might be a logistical nightmare due to the sitting U.S. President attending the matchup. But at the end of the day, the Spurs have a job to do on Monday night. A win brings the series to 2-1 and would, at the very least, force a Game 5. A loss puts the club in a detrimental 0-3 hole, which no team in NBA history has ever come back from.
