Giants’ Jameis Winston drops 5-word reaction after 2-year contract extension

Jameis Winston is happy to be extending his stay in the Empire State following a contract extension with the New York Giants ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

Winston is entering the 12th year of his career in the league, his second with the Giants. He has represented three other teams since he began in 2015, seeing New York be his fourth squad.

Winston was a backup behind Russell Wilson and Jaxson Dart throughout the 2025 season. He managed to make three appearances that included two starts, being productive in his outings.

New York ultimately parted ways from Wilson, who decided to retire from the NFL. Winston stuck around with the squad, wanting to remain for the long term. He got his wish after inking a two-year extension with the franchise. The veteran quarterback celebrated the news on social media.

“See y’all in 7 days,” Winston wrote.

What lies ahead for Jameis Winston, Giants this season

Jameis Winston has secured a place on the Giants’ roster, especially in the quarterback room. He looks forward to helping Jaxson Dart and John Harbaugh in the squad’s process to making a return to great heights.

Winston will be the backup quarterback behind Dart, earning Harbaugh’s trust as the QB2. The veteran completed 37 out of 66 passes for 567 yards and two touchdowns and two interceptions. The year prior saw him throw for 2,121 yards and 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

They will seek to improve upon their 2025 record of 4–13 and make the playoffs after a three-year absence. They also intend to end their 14-year NFC East title drought, currently the longest active drought in the NFC, and put an end to three consecutive seasons with fewer than seven wins.

The Giants will have their regular season go underway at home. They host the Dallas Cowboys as kickoff takes place on Sept. 13 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
