Simone Biles reveals she ‘almost died’ after health issue she calls ‘scariest experience of her life’
Simone Biles has revealed that she “almost died” following a post on social media.
The Olympic icon took to her Instagram story over the weekend when she made a candid admission about an unexpected and scary health scare.

“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age.
“But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week,” Biles wrote over a picture of her wrist with what look to be hospital wristbands.
“This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life, especially since Jonathan [Owens] was in Indy for practices.”
Whilst she didn’t state the exact nature of the scare, though she did reveal it was health-related on X, she has assured her fans that she is now continuing her recovery from home.
“I’ve been in bed resting this week,” she continued.
“I’ll explain sooner or later, but [shoutout] to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers.”
Biles followed up her Instagram story with a few others, of which two depicted images of various bouquets of flowers in a vase.
A third snap showed her lying in bed with her two dogs with a screenshot of her resting heart rate, with a caption that read: “I’ll be here.”
Biles is the USA’s most decorated Olympic gymnast of all-time, having claimed 11 medals – seven gold, two silver and two bronze – across three successive Olympic Games.
Her husband Jonathan Owens is an NFL safety who penned a one-year, $1.4 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts during the offseason after stints with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.

He was away at the franchise’s training camp when the medical emergency occurred, with one of sports’ biggest power couples currently residing in Texas having built their dream lakeside home from scratch.
The revelation of Biles’ health scare came just one day after she shared pictures of her and Owens in attendance at the MLB game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs.
The game, in which Owens threw out the ceremonial first pitch, took place on May 29, so Biles had delayed the upload – likely as a result of her health ordeal.
Fans send their support
Boasting almost 12 million followers on Instagram and an additional 1.9 million on X, Biles received an outpouring of love and well-wishes from fans.
“Speedy recovery. You’re not alone. You’ll come out stronger, God be with you,” one user wrote.
“Wishing her a full recovery, what a scary thing to go through,” a second commented.

“
When someone describes an experience as “the scariest of their life,” it reminds us how quickly health situations can become serious, even for elite athletes,” a third reflected.
Sending her well wishes as she continues her recovery.
