Seahawks-Patriots Super Bowl LX rematch scheduled for NFL Week 1
The schedule release for the 2026 NFL regular season is almost here, and fans are starting to find out little by little what the slate is going to look like this fall. The Seattle Seahawks are going to open the regular season in prime time at home after winning Super Bowl LX, and now we know who they will play.
The New England Patriots will be the team headed up to the Pacific Northwest for what will be a Super Bowl rematch on opening night, per Ari Meirov. The game will be on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
The Seahawks will be hoping to replicate their performance in Super Bowl LX on opening night, when they crushed the Patriots 29-13 to win their second championship. The New England offensive line was completely overwhelmed on that day, leaving Drake Maye with nowhere to go for most of the night.
Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, who carried the Seattle offense for most of that Super Bowl, will not be out there on opening night after leaving for the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. Zach Charbonnet will also not be out there for the Seahawks due to his torn ACL, but first-round pick Jadarian Price is there to handle a lot of the duties at running back.
Some other marquee matchups on the schedule have also already been revealed. The Rams and 49ers will play each other in Australia during opening week on Thursday night, and the Giants and Cowboys will play on Sunday night.
Thanksgiving Day will feature the Bears heading to Detroit to take on the Lions and the Eagles playing the Cowboys in Dallas. The primetime game remains to be seen as we await the full release.
The rest of the NFL schedule will be unveiled in full on Thursday night. Both the Seahawks and Patriots, among others, will know their full path back to the postseason.
