Yankees’ Trent Grisham drops encouraging update after big game vs. Mariners

In a time where the New York Yankees have badly needed their players to step up at the plate amid injuries to a few of their best hitters, Trent Grisham has emerged as an impactful bat for the team in pinstripes. On Tuesday, Grisham once again came up huge for the Yankees, as he went 2-4 with two RBIs from the leadoff spot in a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

Grisham has been getting it done over the past few days. In fact, he’s coming off another 2-4 night with a home run and an RBI despite their 2-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves a few days ago. It hasn’t been the best year for the Yankees center fielder, but it bodes well for New York moving forward that he’s finding his groove.

“I feel good. I feel like I’m right where I want to be,” Grisham told reporters after the win over the Mariners, via YES Network.

Grisham is indeed feeling good, and it’s apparent in the way he’s performing at the plate. Over the past seven games, Grisham has recorded six extra-base hits with an OPS of .897. This is a huge improvement from his season-long performance, where he’s been putting up an OPS of under .700.

With all of the Yankees’ injuries in the outfield, Grisham’s role becomes all the more crucial. Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger, two of the Yankees’ most consistent and productive batters, are on the injured list, and New York needs Grisham to be more like his 2025 self from the plate.

Last year, Grisham hit 34 home runs, drove in 74 runs, and put up an OPS of .812 — making him one of the best power-hitting outfielders in MLB. And it looks like during the current stretch run, the 29-year-old is rediscovering that kind of form that endeared Yankees fans to him.
