Warriors’ Yaxel Lendeborg reveals ambitious stats prediction for rookie season

Yaxel Lendeborg is not shy about the standard he is setting for himself heading into his first NBA season. The Warriors rookie was asked to predict his own stat line for the upcoming campaign, and he did not hesitate to put a number on it.

“I’m gonna try to average 15 points, by like six rebounds and like three, four assists,” Lendeborg said while streaming on Kick. “That’s, I’m gonna make that the bare minimum for me. If I get under that, then I’m ass.”

The prediction is not just talk. Lendeborg backed it up with a dominant Summer League run that earned him MVP honors, averaging 14.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and four assists across six games in Las Vegas while shooting 46% from the field and 36% from three.

He capped the run with 21 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the championship game, leading Golden State to the Summer League title over Cameron Boozer and the Memphis Grizzlies.

His numbers stood out beyond the box score as well. Lendeborg posted the highest Box Plus/Minus of any rookie in Summer League history at 15.9, well clear of the next closest competitor, and he did it all while admitting he was not even in full playing shape, having taken roughly a month off after his final college season at Michigan ended.

The 11th overall pick out of Michigan enters a Warriors roster that badly needs the kind of impact he flashed all summer. With Jimmy Butler sidelined until late winter and Moses Moody also dealing with a season-ending injury, Golden State is counting on Lendeborg to soak up meaningful frontcourt minutes from day one, creating offense and guarding bigger wings alongside a veteran core led by Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

Although Summer League production does not always translate cleanly to the regular season, but between his physical tools, his shooting touch, and the clear opportunity in front of him, Lendeborg’s bold prediction does not look far-fetched. If he hits anywhere close to his own bar, the Warriors will have found exactly the X-factor they were hoping for when they drafted him.
