Singer stayed in the game after the incident, as the ball deflected to third baseman Eugenio Suarez. Suarez threw to first baseman Sal Stewart to retire Tatis, while catcher Tyler Stephenson joined Singer on the mound after the play. Singer was able to finish the inning, easing the immediate concern surrounding his left forearm.

The outing unraveled in the fourth inning when the first six Padres batters reached on hits and four scored. Singer ultimately worked 4.1 innings, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs while striking out five and issuing no walks across 87 pitches. The loss dropped him to 5-13 after he entered Monday with a 4.72 ERA through 26 starts.
