Reds pitcher Brady Singer provides encouraging update after getting hit vs. Padres

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Brady Singer provided an encouraging update Monday night after a comebacker struck his left forearm during a 5-0 loss to the San Diego Padres at Great American Ball Park. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit Singer with the comebacker in the third inning, prompting a brief mound visit before the right-hander remained in the game and finished the inning.

Chatterbox Sports shared video of the 30-year-old right-hander’s postgame comments on X, formerly Twitter, providing his immediate assessment of the injury scare.

“Doesn’t feel too bad… hurt for a second, but it’s good now.”

Singer stayed in the game after the incident, as the ball deflected to third baseman Eugenio Suarez. Suarez threw to first baseman Sal Stewart to retire Tatis, while catcher Tyler Stephenson joined Singer on the mound after the play. Singer was able to finish the inning, easing the immediate concern surrounding his left forearm.

The outing unraveled in the fourth inning when the first six Padres batters reached on hits and four scored. Singer ultimately worked 4.1 innings, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs while striking out five and issuing no walks across 87 pitches. The loss dropped him to 5-13 after he entered Monday with a 4.72 ERA through 26 starts.

Singer’s immediate health update carried added significance given his durability in the Reds rotation. The 30-year-old had not missed a turn in two seasons despite dealing with several physical issues during 2026, including a blister, another comebacker, and recent rib soreness.

The Reds finished with just five hits and suffered their 15th shutout of the season as Padres starting pitcher Michael King earned the win. The Reds are scheduled to turn to Nick Lodolo on Tuesday, while no further medical issue involving Singer had been announced as of Monday night.
