Red Sox’s Trevor Story shares injury update after undergoing surgery
Boston Red Sox infielder Trevor Story underwent surgery for a sports hernia 10 days ago. Story has been limited to 41 games played due to injury this season. On Tuesday, Story shared an update on his injury status, via Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic.
“Trevor Story was back in Boston today, doing some light walking 10 days post surgery. Said he’s been told 8-12 weeks as a timetable. He’d been dealing with hernia symptoms since early spring but it progressively got worse, migrated to his core limiting him on offense and defense,” McCaffrey reported.
Story hit .206/.244/.303 across the aforementioned 41 games played this season. He added three home runs and seven doubles. Although his numbers do not jump off the page, Story is still a reliable veteran and an impactful player. He will be missed during his injury absence.
It has been an overall difficult season for the Red Sox. A number of players have underperformed, while the ball club has also battled injury trouble. The Red Sox are currently 25-33 and in last place in the American League East standings, where they trail the Tampa Bay Rays by 11.5 games for first place in the division.
Boston is currently hosting the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park. The Red Sox will look to get the job done against one of their AL East rivals. A good series will build important momentum, as the Red Sox have earned two consecutive victories heading into Tuesday’s game.
As for Trevor Story, updates on his injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.
