Malik Nabers’ cryptic injury update should make fantasy managers, Giants fans wary about Week 1

One of the big question marks heading into Week 1 for the New York Giants is whether or not budding star wide receiver Malik Nabers will be on the field and healthy. Nabers missed the second half of last season after suffering a torn ACL against the Los Angeles Chargers, and no official announcement has been made yet on when he will return.

On Tuesday, fans got a somewhat cryptic update from Nabers himself as the season quickly approaches.

“My mind is focused on playing the regular season, playing whenever that is and playing what team it is,” he said when asked if he is planning on playing the team’s opener, per Patricia Traina of Sports Illustrated. “I’m going to be making sure that I’m ready to go out there and I’m healthy enough to play all four quarters. The main focus is just trying to be out there as much as I can.”

Nabers has wasted little time establishing himself as one of the top wideouts in the game when healthy, using his array of speed, size, and elite hands to quickly become the Giants’ clear number one receiver.

Unfortunately, the star didn’t get a chance to establish much synergy with quarterback Jaxson Dart last year, as Nabers suffered his injury in the same game that Dart made his first NFL start.

The Giants also recently gave Nabers a franchise icon to look up to by bringing Odell Beckham Jr. along on their 53-man roster for the upcoming season.

In any case, Giants fans will hope that Nabers is one the field when the team takes on the Dallas Cowboys on September 13 to open up the season.
