Pistons break record that stood for nearly 7 decades in win over Bucks

Cade Cunningham made a successful return from a lung injury on Wednesday as the Detroit Pistons routed the Milwaukee Bucks, 137-111, at Little Caesars Arena.

Cunningham, who had not played since March 17, contributed a double-double of 13 points and 10 assists on top of five rebounds in 26 minutes.

Jalen Duren led the squad with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Duncan Robinson had 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting and three assists.

The Pistons improved to 58-22, including 33-9 at home. They have a chance to reach 60 wins for the first time since the 2005-2006 season.

Against the Bucks, Detroit tallied its eighth 135-point game this season, setting a new team record, according to ESPN Insights.

After a tight contest in the first quarter, the Pistons outscored the Bucks, 41-29, in the second frame to build an 18-point lead at halftime, 75-57. From there, they never took their foot off the gas and cruised to the victory. They led by as much as 31 points.

Entering the game against Milwaukee, Detroit was averaging 117.3 points per game, good for ninth in the league.

The Pistons buried the Bucks with their accuracy, shooting 57% from the field, including 14-of-30 from three-point range. Seven players scored in double digits.

With Cunningham back in action, the Pistons will look to carry over their momentum into the playoffs, where they will have homecourt advantage throughout as the top seed. The team has not made it past the first round since the 2007-2008 season.

The Pistons will take on the Charlotte Hornets on Friday before finishing their calendar against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday.
