Pete Crow-Armstrong’s NL MVP stock is soaring after 5 HRs in 2 games

Crow-Armstrong had two hits against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. Both of those hits went over the wall for a home run. Unfortunately, his solo shots were not enough to help Chicago claim a win. Cincinnati won Sunday’s game by a score of 7-5, taking the series victory along with it.

In saying this, his homers did help his stock in the race for National League MVP. He now has 38 home runs on the year, and six multi-home run games for the 2026 season, according to ESPN’s Jesse Rogers. Rogers also notes that he now has five home runs in his last two games.

Crow-Armstrong was unstoppable against the Reds on Saturday. He mashes three home runs against Cincinnati in a 17-5 victory. He drove in six of the 17 runs the Cubs scored in the rubber match of this three-game series.

Chicago fell to 77-59 with this latest loss, and has hit a rough patch as a team overall. The Cubs have lost seven of their last 10 games following Sunday’s defeat. They are now eight games back of the Milwaukee Brewers for first in the National League Central.

The calendar is about to flip to September, which means these games become more meaningful as the days go on. Crow-Armstrong and his teammates have a chance to get back on track on Monday when they begin a series against the Brewers.
