Penn State pays tribute to Allen Robinson after NFL retirement

Allen Robinson II has decided to call it a career after playing 11 seasons in the NFL. He last played for the Detroit Lions in 2024 and failed to find a team last year.

He had his best stretch with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who drafted him with the No. 61 pick in 2014. The following year, he earned a nod to the Pro Bowl and finished as the league’s receiving touchdowns co-leader.

Before starring in the NFL, Robinson was a standout at Penn State from 2011 to 2013. He became a two-time All-Big Ten First Team and a two-time Big Ten Receiver of the Year. He was also named to the All-American First Team. He tallied 177 receptions for 2,479 yards and 17 touchdowns with the Nittany Lions.

Penn State paid tribute to the 33-year-old Robinson on X, touting his achievements in college and in the NFL.

Robinson is among the notable players from Penn State, along with Saquon Barkley, Micah Parsons, Chris Godwin, Pat Freiermuth, Joey Porter Jr., Jack Ham, Franco Harris, and Lenny Moore, just to name a few.

In a video announcing his retirement from football, Robinson looked back on his long journey and expressed his deep gratitude.

“To every love story, there comes a final chapter. Football gave me more than I ever could’ve imagined. It challenged me, shaped me, humbled me, and rewarded me in ways I’ll carry for the rest of my life,” wrote Robinson in the caption.

“I came, I saw, I conquered, and I leave with nothing but gratitude.”

Aside from the Lions and the Jaguars, he also played for the Chicago Bears, the Los Angeles Rams, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New York Giants.
