Packers rumors: Ian Rapoport predicts Tucker Kraft will blow away TE contract record

Tucker Kraft has been an invaluable part of the Green Bay Packers’ offense. While much has been made about Green Bay’s apparent lack of a true WR1, Kraft has been functionally the team’s top receiving threat. His absence midway through the season after suffering a torn ACL greatly affected the team’s offense.

Now, Kraft is back and ready to wreck havoc on opposing offenses… and on Green Bay’s wallet. The Packers star tight end is due to get a new contract. Based on his performances over the last few seasons, he’s bound to get a massive contract. Ian Rapoport certainly thinks so, believing that Kraft’s next contract will make him the highest paid tight end “by a considerable margin.”

Kraft suffered a torn ACL in the middle of the 2025 season, ending his season prematurely. He played in eight games last season, catching 32 passes for 489 yards. He was the Packers’ best red-zone threat at the time, scoring six touchdowns in those eight games. He was on pace to have the best season of his career, if not for that devastating injury.

Kraft made his return to the practice field, and the Packers did not hold back with their tight end. Kraft participated in full-contact drills, even taking a few hits during scrimmages. While fans are rightfully worried about the star, the wide receiver said that he feels good and “free” after being sidelined for so long.

“I felt free out there today,” Kraft said. “I’ve gotten to the point now with my attitude for my health now where I feel good and I’m confident where I’m going to stay out there and you guys take me out when I need to come out, when I’m tired. If not, I’m not doing the rep count stuff anymore. You can pull me off the field. I’m gonna try to be out there as much as I can.”

The Packers open their 2026 season on September 14 against the Minnesota Vikings on the road. They’ll be facing one of the most tenacious defenses in the league: the perfect opportunity for Kraft to show he’s still got it.
