Steelers make DK Metcalf contract move right before season to create $18 million in salary cap space
The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a lot of changes in their receiving corps in recent years. Ahead of last year, they traded for DK Metcalf, and then they traded George Pickens away not long after. Metcalf is one of the most physically imposing receivers in the league, and he had 59 catches for 850 yards and six touchdowns last season.
Metcalf is still WR1 in the Aaron Rodgers-led offense, but Pittsburgh just altered his contract. According to Field Yates, the Steelers have restructured the receiver’s contract, converting the base salary into a signing bonus, which creates nearly $18 million in 2026 cap space.
