TGL announces Brooks Koepka first member of Motor City Golf Club for 2027 season

Motor City Golf Club has its frontman.

TGL announced on Wednesday that Brooks Koepka is the new franchise’s first player and that he will be a part of the fold for the 2027 season.

TGL presented by SoFi, the primetime golf leaguefeaturing seven teams of PGA TOUR stars, and Motor City Golf Club today announced Brooks Koepka as the first player selected to the expansion team’s inaugural roster for the upcoming 2027 TGL season.
Motor City Golf Club was announced in May 2025 as TGL’s first expansion team and will begin competition as one of seven teams for the 2027 season. The team’s ownership group is led by Middle West Partners principals Michael Hamp, Peter Hamp and Kevin Kelleher, all of whom have Detroit roots. The same ownership group also owns Motor City Golf Club in WTGL, the new women’s team golf league launching this fall.
“Brooks has built his career around performing at his best when the stakes are highest,” said Michael Hamp, team governor of Motor City Golf Club. “His competitive edge, toughness and championship pedigree fit the identity we are building for Motor City Golf Club and the city we represent. We could not ask for a stronger foundation as we begin assembling our inaugural roster.”
“I’ve had the chance to attend TGL matches, and they bring something completely new to the game. The energy, pace and team atmosphere at SoFi Center really stood out, and it’s something I wanted to be part of,” Koepka said. “I’ve also enjoyed getting to know the Motor City Golf Club ownership group and have been impressed by the commitment to building an authentic team that represents the city. I’m excited to compete alongside my teammates and bring a championship to Detroit.”

Rumors swirled of a Koepka-to-TGL future when he attended a match last season, particularly as he was making his return to the PGA Tour at large. It seems that speculation was well-placed.

Time will tell who ultimately joins Koepka as a part of this franchise. The Tour experienced an incredible infusion of young talent across this season so there are a lot of contenders to pick and choose from.
