Packers rookie Brandon Cisse provides breath of fresh air knee injury update
The Green Bay Packers received an encouraging injury update on rookie cornerback Brandon Cisse following their 33-13 preseason win over the Denver Broncos on Friday night.
Cisse exited the game with a knee injury after encountering a double-team block while covering a punt during the first half. However, the second-round pick indicated afterward that the issue was minor and should not keep him sidelined for an extended period.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper, Cisse felt “a little something” following the block and entered the medical tent for evaluation. He remained on the sideline afterward and said he felt healthy enough to return to the game.
“I just got beat up a little bit,” Cisse said, via Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “Nothing serious at all. I was trying to go back in. Just being precautionary. I’m fine. Nothing to worry about. I wanted to go back in.”
The update provides some relief for Green Bay as Cisse competes for a starting role in the secondary entering his rookie season. The Packers selected the 21-year-old with the No. 52 overall pick in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Cisse’s injury came during an otherwise positive night for Green Bay. The Packers bounced back from their preseason-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers with a convincing 20-point victory over Denver.
With Cisse indicating that his knee issue is not serious, the rookie appears to have avoided a significant setback in his push for an immediate role on Green Bay’s defense.
The Packers will conclude their preseason next Friday against the Arizona Cardinals at 8 p.m. ET.
