Jake Rogers came through with incredible heroics to lead the Chicago White Sox past the New York Mets in a thrilling 6-4 victory on Friday night.

Rogers is going through the seventh year of his career in the majors, his first with the White Sox. He started the campaign with the Detroit Tigers before taking brief stops with the Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox. He has now settled in Chicago, hoping to get them a playoff spot in the AL standings.

Chicago was in need of a big play against New York. The visitors led for most of the game before Chicago willed themselves back to have the game even going into the ninth inning.

The hosts had the chance to finish the game with a walk-off play. Then came Rogers, who delivered a spectacular two-run homer to lead the White Sox to victory over the Mets. What made it special was the uniforms the team wore, wearing red and black that the Chicago Bulls don in the NBA. Michael Jordan would certainly approve of this game-winning highlight in the Windy City.

How Jake Rogers, White Sox played against Mets

Jake Rogers was the hero of the night as the White Sox base feverishly celebrated the game-winning homer against the Mets.

New York had control of the game with a 4-0 lead throughout five innings. Chicago bounced back with runs in the sixth inning to tie, using Rogers’ homer to take the lead for good.

Chicago improved to a 67-61 record on the season, sitting at the top spot in the AL Central Division standings. They are above the Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Guardians at the moment.

The White Sox will look forward to Game 2 of their series against the Mets. That contest will commence on Aug. 22 as first pitch happens at 7:10 p.m. ET.
