Hull deliver brutal message to Man United fans over stadium PA system during shock win

Manchester United’s nightmare start to their Premier League season went from bad to worse on their way to defeat against Hull.

With the newly-promoted Tigers leading 2-0 as the game entered its final 15 minutes, the travelling Red Devils supporters then had insult added to injury by an announcement at the MKM Stadium.

Already staring at a bleak journey home, the away fans were then informed that this was set to take them longer than planned.

The stadium announcer shared over the tannoy that 15.03 and 17.03 trains back to Manchester had been cancelled.

With a party atmosphere already building in Hull, the news sparked even more delight from their home fans, who erupted into cheers.

The taunts didn’t stop there either, with the Tigers faithful brutally chanting: “You’re going home in a taxi,” towards the United end.

Tough start

This capped off a miserable afternoon for Man United as their Premier League season began in disastrous fashion.

Michael Carrick‘s side had no answer to the fast start of Hull, who broke the deadlock after just 17 minutes when Semi Ajayi turned home from a corner after Senne Lammens denied Oli McBurnie’s initial effort.

Making their Premier League return after a nine-year absence, this sparked bedlam at the MKM Stadium as Tigers fans delighted.

And their dream start soon got even better, as Nobel Mendy added a second with a powerful header on 38 minutes.

This was no less than Hull deserved, whose intensity and battling first-half display saw United struggle to conjure up any clear chances.

The Red Devils’ poor first-half led head coach Carrick to call upon the returning Marcus Rashford, who was introduced at half-time to make his first competitive United appearance in 20 months.

But the England star – now wearing the No.9 shirt – was unable to inspire a comeback, as a lacklustre United fell to a 2-0 defeat.

This sparked jubilant scenes from Hull’s players and fans alike at the full-time whistle, as Sergej Jakirovic’s side delivered an immediate message to those tipping them for relegation.

Meanwhile, United were handed a reality check as Michael Carrick’s first game as permanent head coach ended in disappointing fashion.
