Packers’ Micah Parsons hits Mike Tomlin with recruiting pitch at WCF

The Green Bay Packers appeared to be one of the best teams in the NFL last season before injuries took away a number of their stars and derailed their Super Bowl hopes.

The biggest injury of that bunch was to star edge rusher Micah Parsons. Parsons tore his ACL late in the season during a game against the Denver Broncos and missed the rest of the year, but he should be back on the field early in the 2026 season.

During the offseason, Parsons enjoyed some of this time at the epic Western Conference Finals series between the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder. While he was there, he ran into former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and hinted that the Packers may have a spot for him on staff.

“We got a spot for you,” Parsons told the former Steelers head coach. “Just keep coming north.”

The Packers did undergo some changes on staff this offseason when defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley left to become the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins. The Packers hired former Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon as their new defensive coordinator.

Tomlin isn’t currently on any staff after he and the Steelers parted ways after a loss in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, but he would be a quality addition to any room of coaches, just for the culture and experience that he brings. Tomlin is a Super Bowl champion as a head coach won more than 200 games with the Steelers, so it would be no surprise to see teams calling him about a potential role.

For now, the Packers will be focused on getting Parsons back on the field healthy. They have one of the top defenses in football when he is on the field putting pressure on the quarterback, but they fell off significantly in that department last season after he was sidelined. With Gannon looking to make an impression with his new defense next season, he will be eager to get Parsons back on the field.
