Orioles’ Kyle Bradish gets real on what’s working for him amid hot stretch
It was a struggle for Kyle Bradish of the Baltimore Orioles in the early goings of the 2026 MLB season, but he’s made up for that with a recent resurgance on the mound.
In fact, Bradish is sporting a pristine 1.72 ERA over his last five starts. And over his last 24 1/3 innings, he’s allowed only three earned runs and has managed to lower his ERA for the season to 3.44.
Bradish believes that his increased level of competition and challenge to opposing hitters are serving him well amid his recent resurgence.
“I’m competing better, and that’s a big one for me,” Bradish said via A.J. Gersh on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I’m challenging hitters and I feel like I’m putting them on their heels instead of vice versa. I mean, earlier in the year, I was having some tough luck. But, I think the biggest issue was the walks and right now we’re limiting those. Just trying to fill up the strike zone and get early contact.”
Over his first six starts of the season, Bradish didn’t have full command of the strike zone and struggled with inconsistency, posting a 1-3 record over his first six starts along with a 4.20 ERA. But thankfully, there is more stability at the top of Baltimore’s pitching rotation thanks to his improved play.
Right now, the Orioles are four games back of the .500 mark and currently sit in fourth place in the American League East Division behind the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees, and Toronto Blue Jays. They’ll begin a three-game set at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox starting on Tuesday evening.
