‘Nightcap’ takes victory lap over Chad Johnson’s Giannis Antetokounmpo-Heat trade prediction

Miami Heat forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. It feels a little awkward typing that. But that is the reality now. On Monday, the Heat acquired Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster trade with the Milwaukee Bucks, a move that is expected to have a ripple effect across the NBA.

The Heat also received forward Bobby Portis, while sending guards Tyler Herro and Kasparas Jakucionis, center Kel’el Ware, forward Jaime Jaquez Jr., the No. 13 pick in this week’s draft, and future assets to the Bucks.

Antetokounmpo’s move to South Beach confirmed the months-long rumors, as the Heat and the Boston Celtics were widely deemed as the frontrunners to land the two-time MVP.

Even before the massive trade happened, NFL legend Chad Johnson had repeatedly mentioned on ‘Nightcap’ that the Heat would get Antetokounmpo. Last month, Johnson, who is based in Miami, even claimed that the 10-time All-Star was already house-hunting.

Now that Antetokounmpo is with the Heat, ‘Nightcap’ took a victory lap on X.

On Sunday, the six-time Pro Bowler doubled down on his prediction.

“The sources that I do have, they know what they’re talking about. Which is why I’ve come on here and said things that I’ve said. All the other stuff, with Boston, and him going anywhere, none of that is going to happen. That’s just created dialogue to keep people guessing on where he might go,” said Johnson.

The Heat might not be done yet in the offseason, with Johnson stating that team president Pat Riley “got one more thing up his sleeve.”

Fans hailed Riley for beating the Celtics in the tug of war for Antetokounmpo.
