NFL veteran LeSean McCoy blasts Jake Paul’s ‘gimmick’ over ridiculous football claims

Continuing to rile up NFL fans, Jake Paul now seems nowhere close to stopping. Just days after announcing the MVP-PFL merger, Paul now hopes to begin his MMA and NFL career. Ambitious about both for the past few months, Paul’s comments about the NFL have not sat well with many.

During a recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast, Paul opened up to NFL icons Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder that he could easily become a pro football player at the age of 29 even without playing it previously. “I bench more than all of you, guaranteed, and that’s just like right now. And I don’t even practice bench pressing. I’ll squat more than all of you. I’m faster than all of you, like actually,” he said.

However, these comments did not sit well with NFL veteran LeSean McCoy, who addressed them on the Speakeasy podcast and called the entire thing a “gimmick” that Paul has adopted. “Jake Paul said he was going to beat a real champion, but he lost, and now that’s dead. This is all a gimmick from him,” McCoy said.

“So now you got to do something else. This is the new thing he’s doing where, ‘Okay, well, you know what guys, I’m going to fight NFL players because NFL players, they tough, but they’re not boxers.’ So yeah, you’ll beat them. You spar and train for the last six, seven years. So yeah, you’ll beat them. But this is another gimmick. The only thing I don’t get about him is that he’s doing so well with his promotional company. He’s doing so well in business. Why all these antics, though?” McCoy said.

It should also be noted that a few weeks ago, Paul told Front Office Sports about speaking with a few NFL teams and coaches who were interested in bringing him on board, although there have been no confirmed follow-ups to those.
