Nebraska quarterback Anthony Colandrea did not stutter about national title expectations after replacing Dylan Raiola
Nebraska will have a new quarterback this season, with Dylan Raiola leaving the program. Anthony Colandrea, who comes from Virginia via UNLV, has the inside track to be the starting quarterback for the 2026 season.
Now Colandrea is talking about the expectations for the program this season, according to Pete Nakos of On3.
“Expectations at Nebraska are to win,” Colandrea said. “Like, you’re not here to just not win a national championship. I’m not coming here to just win eight or nine games. I want to win a national championship; I want to go to the playoffs. I have high expectations, and we have high expectations as a team. When I first got here, it felt like the bar was eight or nine wins, and I was like, no — we want to win 11, 12 games. We’ve got to go win. That’s the biggest thing.”
While the expectations for the quarterback are high, they may need to be more realistic. Nebraska has not won eight or more games since 2016, when the team went 9-4 and lost the Music City Bowl. They have not played for a conference title since 2012, their second year in the Big Ten, when they won the Legends division and went 10-4.
“I’m here at Nebraska to win football games,” Colandrea said. “I’m putting my head down, and I’m going to work my ass off. My teammates see that. At the end of the day, I want to make everyone around me better — I want to uplift everyone’s game. We had a great spring, and we’re ready to win football games.”
