Scarlet Moon

This is a fascinating opener at Ludlow and one that stands out is Scarlet Moon for trainer Archie Watson.

The four-year-old by Sea The Moon, has gone close in some top hurdle contests including the Scottish Triumph Hurdle when carrying a penalty.

Likewise he went close when also carrying a 7lb penalty at Stratford latest and at Musselburgh three starts ago.

He’s quickly had plenty of experience over hurdles since the start of the jumps season after a busy summer on the flat.

Support is warranted now that he gets plenty of weight allowance, especially against Jimbo Sport and Snatch A Glance – who both have a 7lb penalty for their hurdle wins.

King’s Scholar is a bit of a risk making his hurdle debut but does make an appealing each-way bet for going well straight away with great pedigree and trainer.

Scarlet Moon gets an additional allowance for being just four-years-old and this could be the time he gets his second win.

Your Darling

Destroytheevidence won on chase debut but has yet to get his head in front over fences since, but has managed four second placed finishes including two by a neck.

Beat the impressive Haiti Couleurs in October 2024, so it’s been a long wait – additionally with five below par runs where he’s struggled to be keep up with the pace.

All these runners have had trouble with getting another vital win though and Beachcomber was back in the field in the same race Destroytheevidence won.

Your Darling is 11-years-old but has consistent form with two decent efforts this year, including in a Grade 3 last time out – favoured.
